Booming sales in Europe, the UK in particular, have seen the new-generation Kia Sportage leapfrog ahead of the Rio as the brands best-selling model.
The Kia Rio has held the top spot for what seems like forever, so the popularity of the more expensive Kia Sportage is sure to be met with plenty of enthusiasm by Kia bosses.
And while March 2016 was a bumper month for Kia in Australia (sales climbed 14.8% compared to the same month last year, global sales for the brand actually fell by 0.6%.
In all, Kia delivered 268,007 units in the month with domestic sales in Korea up 19.4% and a 9.4% growth in deliveries in Europe. While across the first three months of the year, Kia global sales were also down 0.6% with 686,887 vehicles delivered to customers.
