Kia sales on the up once again

Kia sales on the up once again

June proves strong month for Sportage and Rio as more new Kia models hit the market.

The latest Kia Rio continues to experience strong popularity in Australia.

Kia Australia boss Tony Barlow says he’s expecting to see continued sales growth for the brand in 2013 as more new Kia models come onto the market.

Buoyed by the now European-built Sportage experiencing almost twice as many sales in June as it achieved in the same month last year, everything is looking good for the once much-maligned South Korean brand.

Mr Barlow says the Sportage in particular is proving popular, mainly because it’s now one of the best equipped SUV’s on the market.

“The strength of the Sportage is extremely pleasing; particularly in light of the decision to source the cars from our Slovakian factory where we are confident supply will be more consistent.”

The Rio also continued to win friends with a 32 per cent increase on last June.

Mr Barlow says with more new models on the way sales for the brand should continue to grow in the second half of the year.

“We expect to see increased activity with the imminent arrival of the final members of the Cerato family (5-door hatch and Koup) and there is also potential for good growth as the new Rondo gains traction in the market.”
