Kia Optima Sportswagon Confirmed

Wagon version of Kia Optima finally comes to life.

It’s taken Kia years but finally a wagon version of the Kia Optima is heading into production and will be known as the Optima Sportwagon.

The new Kia Optima Sportswagon will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in a fortnight and then enter production. Arriving in European dealerships later in the year, we are still awaiting confirmation that we will see it in Australia.

The new mid-size Optima wagon boasts a 553-litre cargo capacity and 40:20:40 split-fold rear seats. Kia confirming this morning that the new offering will be powered by a choice of three engines - 1.7 litre diesel, 2.0 litre petrol and a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol in the Optima Sportswagon GT.

Michael Cole, Chief Operating Officer of Kia Motors Europe, said the Optima Sportswagon will have all the comfort and driving characteristics of the sedan.

“The Optima has come to define Kia globally, and is credited with kick-starting the brand’s design-led transformation.

“The Sportswagon adds an extra level of style and practicality to the well-received saloon.”
