Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee air-bag recall

Air-bag control module could be faulty on early Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee…

They might bring interesting and versatile vehicles to the Australian car market but Chrysler-Jeep products have been the subject of a run of recalls over the last couple of years.

The latest recall affects 2002 and 2003 models of the Jeep Liberty and 2002 through 2004 models of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and comes after it was found the air-bags and seatbelt pre-tensioners may perform erratically.

The recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) with the official notice saying that the air-bag system occupant restraint control (ORC) module may experience a front air-bag and/or seatbelt pre-tensioner inadvertent deployment.

An inadvertent deployment while driving may pose an accident hazard.

Chrysler Jeep will notify vehicle owners who can take their vehicle to a Jeep dealership for repairs.
