Iveco Daily Bus launched in Australia

Long-awaited new passenger bus available from Iveco…

Look out Toyota Coaster and Mitsubishi Rosa, Iveco is entering the light-bus market with two new offerings based on the popular Iveco Daily.

About to land in Australian Iveco dealerships, the new offerings come at an exciting time for Iveco with the manufacturer also recently relaunching the International Trucks brand back into Australia.

But it’s the Iveco Daily Bus that could be the jewel in the crown.

Offered initially in three variants – ‘Shuttle 12/16’ and ‘Executive 16’, all are powered by a 170hp (125kW)/400Nm 3.0 litre turbo-diesel engine.

Mated to that Euro-6 compliant engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission.

  • Car-like driving position
  • Front and rear air-conditioning units
  • Air suspension (standard)
  • Safety systems including ABS, ESP, lane departure warning
  • Cruise Control (standard)
  • Main passenger door adjacent to driver, rather than behind
  • Luggage space
  • Available wheelchair space
  • Roof height (Executive 16 features 2m+)

The Iveco Daily Bus range comes into Australia without seats, local customers then get the choice of three different seat options (and the configuration of the seating layout).

While a larger capacity variant of the bus is also being promised, though there’s no firm arrival date for that offering at this stage.

National Manager of Iveco’s Bus Division, Steve Heanes, says the new offering is ready to take on the ‘big two’ in the market.

“We have a vehicle here that is an ideal solution for a wide range of potential customers, including community transport, hotels and government and fleet operators.”
