International ProStar set up for Australia

Many truck manufacturers/importers have learnt the lesson the hard way – you can’t just bring an overseas truck into Australia and expect it to be able to handle the unique local operating environment.

Now Iveco has confirmed that they are investing the time, effort and money into ensuring the new International ProStar is right and ready to go for Australian operations.

Iveco has won the local rights to the famous U.S. truck brand and sales will commence soon.

Adrian Wright is the local Engineering Manager for International, he says the ProStar has a real Aussie identity.

“We began by working out the key requirements for this market,”

“Obviously, one was RHD – fortunately the cab was designed from the outset to accommodate either LHD or RHD, so we had a solid place to start from.

“We also wanted a short bumper to back of cab for B-double applications, and a 15 litre 550 horsepower engine.

“The Cummins X15 was the obvious choice – it is the evolution of the ISXe5, an engine now well proven in Australian conditions.”

And Adrian tells us both Iveco and the local engineering team is confident the new ProStar will be well received by Australian owners/operators.

“We’re excited to introduce ProStar into the market as part of the Iveco range and we’re also very pleased to get back to the roots of International in Australia as an economical, efficient truck.”
