Infiniti unveils QX80 Monograph

Large SUV said to be part of a study into future models…

Ok, so we know the ‘beluga whale’ that is the current Infiniti QX80 divides opinion, right? So, theoretically Infiniti would go back to the drawing board and tone the styling down a bit.

If things were following that normal course then the vehicle above would simply be the next-generation Infiniti QX80.

However, at this stage, Infiniti isn’t exactly letting the cat of the bag.

After teasing the model during the week (details here), Infiniti today released the above sketch of what it calls the ‘QX80 Monograph’ and they say the vehicle will be shown in the flesh at the New York Auto Show next week.

But, as of now, the official line is that the vehicle is “a new design study exploring ‘upscale luxury’ and signalling the brand’s intention to further develop its standing in the large SUV segment”.

And that the Japanese designed QX80 Monograph is “the ultimate expression of futuristic luxury SUV design and illustrates how the design of Infiniti’s QX80 could evolve”.

The President of Infiniti, Roland Krueger, is also being sneaky with his comments.

“The QX80 Monograph represents a detailed study into our expertise of exterior design,”

“It shows our concept of luxury and style on the road, and is an exploration into how we could enhance our future Infiniti offering in the luxury SUV segment.”

We will bring you more details on the concept as they come to hand.
