Impressive Australian sales increases for Kia - the Kia Picanto light car will join the local Kia line-up in early 2016.

The industry leading seven-year warranty and the introduction of some new models is helping Kia win over a growing number of Australian car buyers.

Sales data shows Kia sold 3,002 new cars in Australia in September, that was well ahead of the brands September 2014 Australian total of 2,074.

The increase comes as dealerships take advantage of the new Kia Carnival and Sorento, while more increases are expected when the budget-priced Kia Picanto lands early next year.

Meantime, Kia has also confirmed global sales results and while big sales increases in other key markets have been achieved, overall, global sales for the South Korean brand remain fairly flat.

The South Korean brand amassed a total of 243,947 deliveries in the month, slightly less than the 244,547 sales the brand achieved in the same month last year. That total came despite the strong Australian result, a 20.1% increase in deliveries in North America, a 16.6% jump in South Korean sales and an increase in deliveries in Europe of 7.2%.

While across the first nine months of the year Kia’s global sales totalled 2,125,845 units for a -1.4% year-on-year decrease.
