Hyundai reveals new Sonata

Sonata nameplate to return to Australia with all-new model.

Hyundai reveals new Sonata
Hyundai released this single rendering of the new Sonata.

The next-generation of the Hyundai Sonata is set to be revealed later in the month, before the model arrives in Australia later in the year.

Releasing a rendering of the exterior today, the new Sonata features styling which utilizes Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy that is, according to Hyundai, easy-to-understand and pleasant.

Inside the cabin Hyundai is promising a human-friendly environment and the new Sonata was apparently designed with Human Machine Interface (HMI) qualities, which, Hyundai says,  lets drivers intuitively recognize the vehicle’s controls, allowing for more convenient and effective use of those functions.

While drivetrain details are yet to be confirmed, Jeong Gil Park, head of Hyundai’s Engineering Design Division, says the new model will build on the Sonata legacy.

“Since the first Sonata was introduced in 1985, Hyundai Motor’s symbolic midsize sedan has contributed hugely to the company’s rapid growth and brand enhancement,”

“The all-new Sonata has evolved again, based on Hyundai Motor’s world-class technologies, and it will play an important role in further facilitating our shift from quantitative growth to qualitative growth.”

Australian specifications and pricing will be announced later in the year.
