New Holden Spark beats home Kia and Mitsubishi rivals

Holden has a category winning model in its ranks with the recently released Holden Spark charging to the top of the micro car sales category in June.

VFACTS car sales data for June 2016 shows the Holden Spark found 273 Australian owners in June, that number representing a 29.2% market share.

The Holden model finishing ahead of the Kia Picanto (243) and the Mitsubishi Mirage (126).

That result for the Mitsubishi offering comes 12 months after the budget-priced Mirage managed a whopping 562 sales.

The Mitsubishi’s result tied with the 126 sales that the now discontinued Nissan Micra managed.

The Fiat 500 managed to gain 100 sales in June, well down on the 283 that was recorded in June 2015.

While the Suzuki Celerio dropped from 134 to 68 sales in June.

In total, micro car sales in Australia fell 28.7% in the month and were down 27.6% across the first half of the year.
