Holden Equinox confirmed for Australia

2017 arrival confirmed for US-sourced Holden Equinox SUV…

Holden has very quickly confirmed that a new SUV unveiled in the past 24 hours by Chevrolet will be coming to Australia.

The new model, to be known as the Holden Equinox, will join the existing Trax and Trailblazer, along with the Acadia - another new SUV model coming from the U.S.

Holden telling us in a statement that while the model is coming to Australia, no firm details are yet to be confirmed.

In announcing the all-new model in North America, Chevrolet confirmed that it’s version of the five-seat SUV would be available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants.

While buyers of the Chevrolet version will also have the choice of three different powertrains:

  • 170kW/275Nm 1.5 litre turbo-petrol, mated to six-speed auto transmission
  • 252kW/353Nm 2.0 litre turbo-petrol, mated to nine-speed auto transmission
  • 136kW/320Nm 1.6 litre turbo-diesel, mated to six-speed auto transmission

Alan Batey, Global Chevrolet president, said the new Chevrolet Equinox will be one of the most customer-focussed offerings the brand has ever produced.

“The Equinox delivers on all fronts, starting with its fresh new design and all-new propulsion systems.”
