Holden Captiva Diesel Engine Recall

Holden Captiva Diesel Engine Recall

2007 and 2008 Holden Captiva recalled over engine issue.

Owners of model year 2007 and 2008 Holden Captiva SUVs will be asked to return their vehicle to a Holden dealership for possibly extensive engine work.

The Holden Captiva diesel recall affects Captiva vehicles fitted with the 2.0 litre Diesel Engine and is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Holden Captiva SUVs could have an issue with roller rockers that could cause the engine to stall.

The ACCC recall notice advising that on Holden Captiva diesel vehicles built between the 28th of December 2006 and the 28th of February 2008, rocker arm bearings in the engine may fail after prolonged exposure to degraded oil.

Rocker arm bearing failure will cause a reduction in engine power or a stall.

Holden will write to all affected customers to notify them of required action.

      • Have a recall letter in hand from Holden stating “Should you have questions regarding reimbursement for a retail re[air that has already been completed for this condition, please contact Holden Customer Care using details from this letter etc etc etc …

Breath is held that I’ll be reimbursed after a catastrophic failure of these over engineered rockers which didn’t just cause a reduction in power or a stall .. instead “shredding” the motor to the tune of $3.9k.

All this some 3 to 4 years AFTER consumers started screaming about the problem.

        • Hi Luke, Thanks for letting us know. We have raised the issue with Holden following Jo’s comments and will post the details on their reply when response received. Fingers crossed for a good result for you and other owners.
