Holden Astra and Subaru XV both given five-star rating

Five-Star ANCAP rating for new models…

The popular Subaru XV crossover SUV is getting a refresh while the impressive Holden Astra is being released in a sedan version very shortly.

Both vehicles have been given the thumbs up by ANCAP passing with flying colours for safety in their crash tests and given a five-star safety rating.

Good ratings were award to the Subaru XV for pedestrian protection and whiplash protection and did better on the frontal offset crash test.

The Astra sedan was given a good rating for pedestrian protection while both received a full score for the side impact test and pole crash test.

However, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) was available in all but the base model XV and not at all in the Astra.

ANCAP CEO James Goodwin is reminding manufacturers and consumers alike that it will become more crucial to have this life-saving technology installed.

“As our requirements become more stringent next year, it will not be possible for new models to achieve a 5 star ANCAP safety rating without an effective AEB system fitted as standard.”
