Fuel leak risk sees Mercedes-Benz Vito recalled

ACCC overseeing recall of current-edition Mercedes-Benz Vito

Australian owners of current-series Mercedes-Benz Vito vans are being contacted to arrange for a recall of their vehicle to be undertaken.

Being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the recall affects only Mercedes-Benz Vito vans powered by a diesel engine.

The recall comes just days after the diesel-powered Mercedes-Benz C-Class was also recalled over a possible fuel leak.

The ACCC recall notice for the Vito says only vans sold between the 1st of July 2014 and the 31st of March 2016 are affected.

The high pressure fuel line may not have been manufactured to specification, this could result in fuel leakage.

What are the hazards?

Diesel fuel leakage on to the road surface may result in an increased risk of accident to the vehicle concerned and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Letters will be sent to owners of affected vehicles by Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific.
