Four new 2017 models get top safety score

Audi, Skoda, and MINI models get top score…

We are pleased to report that four new additions to the Australian car market have all qualified for a maximum five-star ANCAP safety rating.

Confirmed this evening by the Australian crash test authority, the four vehicles include the Skoda KODIAQ, MINI Countryman and the Audi Q5 and Q2.

ANCAP telling us the top score relates to the 4×4 version of the Skoda and all variants of both Audi SUVs, including the sporty Audi SQ5.

While for the MINI, again, the five-star score goes across the range and that lifts the ‘big MINI’ up from a four-star rating in the previous generation model.

ANCAP chief, James Goodwin, says that is good news for MINI buyers.

“Not only has MINI improved on the structural performance of the Countryman – they’re offering the highest level of safety assist features seen from the brand with autonomous emergency braking including pedestrian detection, and a speed sign recognition and warning system.”
