Limited edition Ford Falcon XR Sprint coming in 2016.
Ford has gone back through the Falcon history books to find a name last used back in the early 1990’s for a Special Edition XR model.
The Ford Falcon ED XR8 Sprint is now an extremely collectible Ford Falcon model and Ford hopes reusing the Sprint name on the new limited-edition Falcon XR Series sedan in 2016 will prove just as popular.
Called XR Sprint, the limited edition XR models will be offered in turbocharged six-cylinder and supercharged V8 variants.
Featuring a number of special tweaks and features over the standard XR car, Ford say the 2016 Sprint models will come with extra power, upgraded brakes, unique wheels, Sprint badges and embroidery and a unique numbered build plaque on the engine,
Graeme Whickman, Ford President and CEO, says the 2016 Ford Falcon XR Sprint is sure to become a classic.
“There has been a lot of speculation around what our plans are for Falcon in 2016 and today we’re happy to confirm that Ford will build a special series to celebrate Australia’s large sedan,”
“The Falcon XR Sprint is aligned to the understated look of our notable historic performance Falcons; they will be styled with design and dynamic influences that are distinctly different in feel, presence and execution,”
“The XR Sprint will be a limited-edition series and one we think will be highly regarded by our Falcon fans. Ultimately too, like many of our performance Fords, we expect it to be a highly collectible car.”
More details on the new 2016 Falcon XR Sprint will be confirmed in the new year.
