Five star safety for Jeep Patriot

Five star safety for Jeep Patriot

Latest crash test results hand Jeep another top safety rating.

Five star safety for Jeep Patriot
90% of new passenger vehicles sold so far in 2014 carried a five-star ANCAP safety rating, but only 55% of light commercial vehicles offered the same level of safety.

ANCAP has handed out crash test ratings to two models – the Jeep Patriot and the Great Wall V200 ute.

The 4×2 version of the Jeep secured a maximum five-star rating (the 4×4 version is yet to be tested), but the Chinese-built ute could only achieve a three-star rating.

ANCAP says the Patriot scored well in each of the physical crash tests, offering a high level of protection for occupants. But, ANCAP Chairman Lauchlan McIntosh wasn’t as pleased with the performance of the Great Wall V200.

“Price is of course one of the key factors when it comes to deciding which car to buy, but that shouldn’t mean we compromise on safety.”

“Today’s two ratings highlight the differences we’re still seeing between passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles (LCVs).”

“LCVs are still being afforded regulatory concessions when it comes to safety but there is no reason why LCVs should be built to lesser standards than passenger cars.
