Kia this afternoon confirmed that the lower seating capacity variant was available in Australia, but only in the entry-level S model grade.
Prices start from $26,990 and that’s down from the previous access point into the Rondo of $31,490.
Without that third row of seating, Kia tell us the five seat version boasts 536 litres of cargo space, and up to 1,694 litres with the rear seats folded down.
Another change coming with that new five seat version is the discontinuing of the Platinum grade model, the seven seat Si now the top-spec offering and that comes with that starting price of $31,490.
The latest changes come after Kia earlier discontinued the diesel-powered Rondo. Heading into 2017 both the S and Si model grades feature the same 2.0 litre petrol engine/six-speed auto transmission combo.
2017 Kia Rondo S Standard Features:
- 16″ steel wheels
- Reverse camera
- Rear parking sensors
- Auto cruise control with speed limiter
- Seven-year warranty
Kia Australia boss, Damien Meredith, says the changes should help put Rondo on the radar of more Australian families.
“I think it is fair to say that Rondo has never enjoyed the positive market attention that it deserves,”
“With the addition of the five-seat variant, some fresh styling and a specification realignment we are confident Rondo will feature on a much greater number of consideration lists.”
