A recall of some Mercedes-Benz Actros, Axor, Arocs and Atego trucks has been initiated after a possible issue with a weld seam was identified.

All of the affected trucks were sold in Australia between the 13th of June 2012 and the 10th of July 2017 and the recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The recall notice advises that a weld seam has been improperly applied to out-of-line axle housings during the production process.

What are the hazards?

This may cause oil leakage and cracking of the rear axle.

In the worst-case breakage can occur, causing the vehicle to stop during use, posing an accident risk to the driver and other road occupants.

What should affected owners do?

Owners are requested to take their vehicle to an authorised Mercedes-Benz Truck Dealership for an inspection and repair of the vehicle.
