European debut for Jaguar I-PACE

Jaguar electric car concept shown in Geneva…

It’s still classified as a concept car, though we’re tipping that the production version of the Jaguar I-PACE won’t stray too far from this design.

After unveiling the ‘concept’ in November last year (details here), Jaguar announced it would have an electric car available to car buyers by around the middle of next year.

Now the Jaguar I-PACE has just made its official European debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

With that debut came some interesting news regarding production of the first Jaguar electric car – the British car company will be contracting out production of the vehicle to Austria.

Magna Steyr, a company that is already building cars for BMW/MINI, will be tasked with producing the I-PACE, this is due to the Jaguar Land Rover production facilities running at capacity.

Production will also be squeezed by the addition of the new Range Rover Velar (details here).

In showing the new offering in Geneva, Jaguar said the I-PACE has been engineered without compromise to deliver a brilliant package, long-distance range, fast charging times and exhilarating performance.
