Eighth-generation Volkswagen Passat launched - the new Volkswagen Passat is being offered in three model grades.

Volkswagen is looking to put a difficult few weeks behind it with the Australian introduction of the newest generation of the popular Volkswagen Passat.

Launched today on the Gold Coast, the all-new eighth-generation Volkswagen Passat will again be offered in three different model grades – 132TSI, 132TSI Comfortline and 140TDI Highline. Sedan and wagon variants also again feature.

Aside from styling and interior tweaks, the biggest change being introduced with the new 2016 Volkswagen Passat is a range of two improved engines. Volkswagen tell us the new turbocharged direct injection engines offer more power and better economy.

2016 Volkswagen Passat Engine Range:

  • 1.8 litre TSI petrol producing 132kW/250Nm
  • 2.0 litre TDI diesel producing 140kW/400Nm

All come with a start/stop system, a regenerative braking mode and DSG auto transmission as standard.

Other standard features in the 2016 Volkswagen Passat range include 17” alloy wheels and sat-nav, while optional Luxury and R-Line packages are again on offer priced at between $2,500 and $3,500.

The new eight-generation Volkswagen Passat is priced from $34,990.
