Econotrailer two-tonne trailers recalled

Two tonne rated tandem trailers could have draw bar issue

Owners of Econotrailer two-tonne trailers are being urged to contact the manufacturer and arrange for the replacement of their trailers draw bar.

The Econotrailer two-tonne trailer recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and affects trailers sold between the 4th of February 2013 and the 31st of December 2015.

The ACCC recall notice advising that trailers fitted with 50mm x 75mm rectangular drawbar may not comply with the Australian Design Rules (ADR) required specifications due to the strength of the material used.

What are the hazards?

There is a potential for the affected draw bar on the trailer to detach from the tow vehicle and pose as an accident hazard for road users.

Owners should return the trailers to Econotrailer & Fabrication for a free draw bar upgrade.

You can email Econotrailer & Fabrication via their website, or contact Peter on 0431 884 437.
