Double wins for Land Rover at Scottish Car Awards

Land Rover Discovery Sport and Defender get awards.

Double wins for Land Rover at Scottish Car Awards - the Land Rover Defender was named Best Used Car.

The team at Land Rover have welcomed double recognition at this year’s Scottish Car of the Year Awards.

The new Land Rover Discovery Sport emerged successful in the competitive Best Diesel category, while the iconic Land Rover Defender took the award for the Best Used Car.

The annual awards, decided by an expert panel of judges from the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW), recognized the performance and efficiency of the 2.0 litre turbo-diesel engine found in the Discovery Sport.

The Defender won its Used Car award due to its long history in the market and war service, according to ASMW Secretary, Stephen Park.

“Our top used choice is a vehicle that has kept countries mobile during times of disaster,”

“No other vehicle in history has managed to withstand the test of time like the Land Rover Defender.

“The current model’s family resemblance to the 1948 original is immediately obvious yet one of the oldest automotive designs is one of the best at retaining its value.

“Buy almost any Defender, from a 1990 example to a nearly new model, keep it in top condition, and there’s every chance you will enjoy depreciation-free motoring.”

“Moreover, such a lengthy production run means there’s a huge choice available to suit every budget.”
