Australia-bound Lexus coupe takes Production Car Design Award…
It will be here soon and we’re tipping it to be a real breakthrough vehicle for Lexus in Australia – the all-new LC luxury coupe.
Now, ahead of that local arrival, the Lexus LC has just been named the winner of the 2016 Production Car Design of the Year.
Decided by a line-up of world’s top car designers, the Lexus beat home a strong field of 11 other finalists to take the award.
Those Production Car Design finalists included:
- Suzuki Ignis
- Peugeot 3008/5008
- Renault Scenic
- Land Rover Discovery
- Citroën C3
- Mazda CX-5
- Tesla Model 3
- Bugatti Chiron
- Volvo V90
Car Design Review editor, Guy Bird, said the Lexus was just too beautiful to pass up.
“Our esteemed but hard-to-please professional car design judging panel clearly agreed, giving plaudits to the curvaceous coupe for its daring surfacing, unforgettable face and unique character.
“It was a tough project to execute, by all accounts (details here), but a wonderful end result and a deserving winner of the 2016 Production Car Design of the Year.”
The Lexus LC 500 is no stranger to design award wins - it took home two other design plaudits early last year (details here).
We will bring you updated info regarding Australian availability, pricing and specs as it comes to hand in our Lexus LC News section.
