Dana handed 10,000th patent

Huge milestone for Dana Incorporated

The drive-line and component manufacturer, Dana Incorporated, has just achieved a significant company milestone – the registering of their 10,000th patent.

The milestone patent, number US 9,557,749 B2, was issued for a Long-brand heat exchanger with an integrated thermal bypass valve.

The U.S company also has 1,300 patent pending applications.

George Constand, Dana’s chief technical officer, says the 10,000-patent milestone is a significant achievement.

“Our company founder Clarence Spicer was first issued a patent for the encased universal joint in 1904.

“This revolutionary technology literally unchained the automotive industry – and gave birth to a culture of innovation that spans well over a century.

“Our 10,000th patent is indicative of how we successfully help vehicle manufacturers meet increasing demands for fuel efficiency and driving performance.”

The patent milestone comes just weeks after Dana Incorporated confirmed a significant investment in China where it will produce all-wheel drive systems for cars and SUVs.
