CVT fault recall for Mitsubishi Lancer, ASX and Outlander

Owners of Mitsubishi ASX and Outlander SUVs and Lancer vehicles are being contacted by Mitsubishi with details of a recall that has been initiated this afternoon.

Being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the Mitsubishi CVT recall affects MY16 - CF series Lancer, MY15/15.5 XB series ASX and MY16 ZK series Outlander vehicles.

Is your Mitsubishi affected? Check here (have your VIN handy).

The ACCC recall notice advises that affected vehicles equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) may, in certain driving conditions, experience a delay in the vehicle’s acceleration.

An unexpected reduction in the vehicle’s acceleration could potentially cause an accident.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia will contact all known owners by mail and advise them to present their vehicle to their preferred dealer to upgrade the software in the transmission control unit at no charge.
