Maserati has officially unveiled the keenly anticipated new Ghibli.

The ‘premium saloon’ recently debuted at the Shanghai Motor Show to a positive response as Maserati moves bravely towards four-door models.

The Ghibli and its bigger sister the new Quattroporte, mark a significant turning point in Maserati history simply because they have four-doors instead of two.

And now we can reveal some of the finer details of the new offering.

Maserati says the new Ghibli will be offered with a choice of three different engines;

  • 3.0L twin turbo V6 petrol with 243kW and 500Nm (Ghibli)
  • 3.0L twin turbo V6 petrol with 301 kW and 550Nm (Ghibli S)
  • 3.0L turbo diesel V6 (the first in Maserati’s history) with 202kW and 600Nm (Ghibli diesel)

All three engines will be bolted to the same eight-speed automatic transmission and the new Ghibli will also be offered with optional all-wheel drive.

Maserati says the new model delivers exquisite handling thanks to perfectly balanced weight distribution, a double-wishbone front suspension and a state-of-the-art five-link rear suspension.

On the inside the new luxury saloon will boast features like the Maserati Touch Control screen, reversing camera, Poltrona Frau Leather interior and the 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, as well as WLAN-based WiFi.
