Phil tells us all about his Skoda Octavia.
The Skoda has got to be the hidden gem in the Volkswagen stables. And the vRS (or as they say here in OZ the “RS”) is the top of the tree.
With a great combination of boy racer and family usage the RS is a great choice for those of you who want to take the kids to soccer, do the shopping and still have the performance of a Golf GTi (which it shares the engine with).
The DSG gearbox has 4 modes to choice from Economy, Drive (normal), Sport and Individual (you can set up your own driving style) or flick to manual and use the paddle shift to have some fun.
For day to day running around the drive and economy modes are fine but if you want to hold those gears a bit longer and use the full rev range then the sport mode is definitely the go. Just watch the speed as the car does tend to get to the limit pretty quick.
Skoda have taken the mantra of Simply Clever and added just enough things for you to wonder why these were never used before in other cars.
Having driven the Occy now for a while I still walk away from the car and find myself looking back at it and thinking that it is a great looking car and I still love driving it. Definitely worth the test drive if you are thinking of a Wagon and don’t want to pay the premium of a Golf.
Thank you Phil for that review of a car that we were also impressed with. Your name is now in the draw to win this month’s prize. If you want to be like Phil and tell us about your car, or any other vehicle you get about in (or on), put it in an email and send it to [email protected] or use the Contact page.
