Campbell confirmed as Nissan enduro driver

Rising star Matt Campbell has been confirmed as one of Nissan’s endurance drivers, pairing up with team boss Todd Kelly.

Having tested the Nissan in February, Campbell was back behind the wheel of the Altima at Winton today.

“After the previous test day we were all blown away with how good a job he did straight away,” said Kelly.

“He was not only fast but also reliable, and he didn’t put a foot wrong.”

Campbell has made a name for himself racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup, catching the eye of a number of senior onlookers.

The 21-year-old claimed his first victory in the category at Sydney Motorsport Park midway through last season and won the Bathurst round of the championship.

“I’m really happy to be part of Nissan Motorsport for the endurance races this year,” enthused Campbell.

“Bathurst is the biggest race in Australian motorsport; to be a part of it is an amazing opportunity from Nissan Motorsport and a dream come true.”

With Campbell’s confirmation alongside Kelly it leaves just two seats available in the Nissan Motorsport camp.

Dean Fiore has already been confirmed with Michael Caruso while the team continues to seek a replacement for Alex Buncombe.

Russell Ingall has today tested a car, prompting suggestions that he could find his way into one of the Nissan’s for the enduro season.
