Bumper 2016 sales recorded by Mercedes-Benz

The increasing popularity of the Mercedes-Benz brand rocketed ahead further in May with nearly 13% more sales in the month compared to the same month last year.

In total, 170,625 Mercedes-Benz vehicles were delivered to customers last month, more than ever before in a May, while record sales were reached in both Europe and the Asia-Pacific.

As is the trend for many manufacturers, much of the growth came from SUV sales with Mercedes-Benz enjoying a 42% increase in sales of its SUV range compared to May 2015.

Mercedes-Benz was also again the top-selling luxury car brand in Australia in May.

While for the first five months of the year Mercedes-Benz sales increased by 12.3% for a total of 818,175 deliveries.

Ola Kallenius is the head of Marketing and Sales at Mercedes-Benz, he says the May results were outstanding.

“Our double-digit growth in Europe and Asia-Pacific made a major contribution to the strong unit sales of Mercedes-Benz in May,”

“And we have big plans. Following the strong market launch of the E-Class Saloon in Europe, we are now presenting the new E-Class Estate to the public for the first time.

“More than 1.6 million Saloons and Estates of the 212 predecessor series have been sold by today.

“We are sure the new generation of the E-Class will continue its strong heritage successfully.”
