2015 ‘auto, motor und sport’ awards for BMW 5 Series and i8.

BMW scores in German car awards - the new BMW i8 won the International Paul Pietsch Award for technological innovation.

BMW has again come away from the annual German ‘auto, motor und sport’ people choices awards with a collection of trophies.

This year’s awards, which are based on votes from around 112,000 readers, saw the BMW 5 Series win the ‘upper mid-range’ segment category – remarkably this is the fifth year in succession that the German car has won the title!

The BMW 5 Series was again recognized this year for features such as the BMW xDrive four-wheel drive system, BMW ConnectedDrive applications and the three different 5 Series body variants.

Meantime, the new BMW i8 was judged the winner of the ‘International Paul Pietsch Award’.

The new plug-in hybrid received around 50% of the total vote in the award, which is judged by 28 chief editors of international trade magazines and honours technological innovation.
