BMW have launched their eDrive technology turning three 7 Series models into hybrid luxury sedans.
The new BMW 740e iPerformance (pictured), BMW 740Le iPerformance and the BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance will all possess the combination of a 2.0L TwinPower Turbo engine and electric motor.
Acclaimed as the most powerful engine in a BMW Series car, it’s capable of pumping out 190kW and 400Nm.
Meanwhile the electric drive system has a maximum output of 83kW and 250Nm and together they manage a high of 240kW and 500Nm which is capable of getting the 740e from 0-100kph in just over 5 seconds.
The 740Le xDrive is fitted with an intelligent AWD system which is driver controlled through the eDrive button.
But fuel consumption is the selling point which the maker claims can get down as low as between 2 and 2.2 litres per 100km. CO2 emissions are rated at 45 to 51 grams per km in the 740Le.
