BMW continues sales surge through 2016

BMW 7 Series and X1 proving big sales stars in 2016

Sharply accelerating demand for BMW SUV and saloon models has helped the BMW Group achieve its best ever first-half sales performance.

The group, including BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce, sold 1,163,139 vehicles in the first half of 2016, that number a 5.8% improvement over the same period last year.

While in June, 227,849 deliveries represented an ever-better 9.1% increase on June 2015.

For the BMW brand the real sales star so far in 2016 is the 7 Series. The luxury salon almost doubled its monthly sales year-on-year in June with 6,301 deliveries.

Also doing extremely well is the BMW X1, sales of the baby BMW SUV were up 79.8% in June.

The BMW 2 Series (+49.6%), X3 (+27.2%) and BMW 5 Series (+5.4%) are also well ahead of 2015 totals.

While over at MINI, the brand achieved its best-ever June with 38,282 (+6.3%) vehicles delivered to customers around the world.

Sales and marketing chief at the BMW Group, Dr Ian Robertson, says everything is on track for a stand-out performance in 2016.

“With our three premium brands, we’ve achieved good first half-year growth, with sales in Europe and Asia showing particularly strong results,”

“Our focus continues to be on ensuring sustainable, profitable growth in sales and despite headwinds in some markets, our June results confirm that we are achieving just that.”
