The ACCC recall notice advises that the ball joint(s) could be damaged in vehicles with high mileage or vehicles exposed to specific severe conditions.

What are the hazards?

If the vehicles are operated for extended periods of time in this condition without any inspection or repair, the ball joint(s) may fail, causing loss of control of the vehicle.

What should affected Stavic owners do?

Affected owners will be contacted by direct mail and asked to contact their nearest SsangYong dealer to arrange an inspection and replacement of the left hand and right hand front lower arm ball joints.

You can find your local SsangYong dealer here.

SsangYong vehicles sold in Australia have previously been caught up in recalls that surrounded issues with the shock absorber.

One of those recalls, initiated last December, also affected the Stavic people-mover.
