Audi shows Q8 sport concept in Geneva

Audi tell us this is a good glimpse of the future Audi Q8…

The Audi line-up will expand to include the Q8, at this stage though we are really only being teased with concept versions.

The German car company showed a Q8 concept in Detroit in January (details here), now at the Geneva Motor Show Audi has taken the covers off this Audi Q8 sport concept.

Audi telling us the concept demonstrates the vision Audi’s developers and designers have for the model.

Under the skin is a 3.0 TFSI V6 engine featuring a mild hybrid system and an electric powered compressor, Audi saying this is a world first powertrain combo.

The end result is a total output of 350kW/700Nm and a sub 5.0 second 0-100km/h time.

While some of the highlights of the more than five-metre long concept include quattro permanent all-wheel drive, adaptive air suspension that allows for up 90mm height differences, 20” ceramic brake discs and 23” wheels.

“The drive system of the Audi Q8 sport concept is a major step towards optimising efficiency and sustainability in large-volume series production,”

“The combination of mild hybrid technology and a TFSI engine sets a new benchmark for the synthesis of electromobility and combustion engines.

“In the future, this combination will be used in many Audi models.”
