A recall of seven Audi models is now underway after it was found the vehicles may develop a fuel leak that could potentially lead to a fire.

The recall affects Audi A4, A5 Cabriolet, A6, A7, Q5 and Q7 models fitted with Audi’s 3.0 litre V6 TFSI engine built between April 2011 and April 2012 and is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

The Audi recall notice says the potential fault could see a fuel leak develop at the fuel rails in the injection system. Owners may notice a fuel smell emitting from the vehicle and in worst case situations, there is potential for fire.

Audi will write to all affected owners who will be required to return their vehicle to an Audi service centre to have their cars fuel rails and thermostat changed.
