Audi brings new internal air filter tech to market

Audi tell us they’ve developed a new internal air filter that will bring fresher air to the occupants of its vehicles.

The new air conditioning filter will start to be fitted to Audi compact models, including Audi A1, A3 and the new Q2 (pictured), from next month, while existing Audi owners will be able to have the new air filter technology retrofitted to their vehicles next time they have a service.

Audi tell us independent testing has found the new filter not only removes fine particulates and harmful gases from the air, but also neutralises virtually all allergens.

Comprising three layers, Audi say the outer carrier layer features an additional anti-allergen effect that reduces allergens by means of plant-derived, bioactive substances called polyphenols.

The polyphenols attach themselves to the receptors of the allergens.

While the two remaining layers are made up of special microfibers and an activated carbon layer.
