Audi A4 marks twenty year anniversary

Audi’s top seller celebrates two decades in production.

Audi A4 marks twenty year anniversary - Audi A4 design changes over the years have been evolutionary, not revolutionary.

It was the model that really put Audi on the map and now the ever-popular Audi A4 is celebrating a full twenty years in production.

The mid-sized model was launched in 1994 and has gone on to sell six million units globally; two million of those cars have been of the current generation which has been in production since 2007.

The Audi A4 was launched in Australia in 1995, over the years 47,700 Australian car buyers have opted to bring an A4 home – this makes it the best-selling Audi model here too.

Dr. Hubert Waltl, Board of Management Member for Production at AUDI AG, says the A4 was a hit right from the start.

“When the Audi A4 superseded the successful Audi 80 series 20 years ago, it became a bestseller soon after its launch. It was the fastest production ramp-up in the company’s history.

“The sporty A4 family is the heart of the Audi brand still today, and is extremely popular with our customers around the world.”

The new fifth-generation Audi A4 will be launched in 2015.
