Another step towards Toyota Supra comeback?

The long awaited and keenly anticipated return of the Toyota Supra sports car might be that little bit closer after it was revealed Toyota had registered the “Supra” trademark in Europe.

Another step towards Toyota Supra comeback?, a popular Toyota fan blog, discovered the company had made the application to register the trademark and follows recent moves to protect the name in the US.

The Toyota Supra hasn’t been produced since 2002, however momentum seems to be building towards a return.

While still not confirmed officially by Toyota, the new Supra is expected to be based on the FT-1 concept car (pictured) that was debuted back in 2014.

It is also believed that Toyota is working with BMW on a chassis that will be utilized for different cars from the two brands, including a Supra.

BMW, who specialise in straight-six engines (for which the Supra is famous), could also be helping out its Japanese friends with an engine.

We will keep you updated on the possible return of the Toyota two-seat sports car as more details come to hand.
