There’s been another recall of the Mitsubishi-designed/built Peugeot 4008 SUV announced.
Confirmed this afternoon by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), at this stage there is no word on whether Mitsubishi ASX and Citroen C4 Air Cross vehicles will also be affected.
The Peugeot version of the SUV has been found to have a potential power relay fault which could pose a fire risk.
More than 900 Peugeot 4008 SUVs are affected, check your VIN here.
All of the suspect vehicles were sold new in Australia between the 30th of November 2014 and the 30th of December 2015.
The recall notice advises that a power relay may overheat, resulting in a relay failure.
What are the hazards?
If the power relay fails it may cause the engine to stall during driving, fail to restart or failsafe may be activated, resulting in a loss of engine power.
This may pose an accident risk to the vehicle occupants and other road users.
What should affected owners do?
Once parts become available, Peugeot Citroen Australia (PCA) will contact all known owners by direct mail and advise them to present their vehicle to their preferred authorised Peugeot dealer to have the affected power relay replaced.
The recall comes just months after the same vehicle (across all three brands) was recalled to fix windscreen wiper and tailgate issues, while last year an issue with the CVT also needed to be rectified.
