Allison Transmissions finishes 2016 in good shape

A huge percentage of trucks on Australian roads are equipped with components from the giant Allison Transmission Holdings group.

The business, famous for its commercial duty fully-automatic transmissions, has reported its financial and sales results for the final quarter of 2016 and in the main it was all quite positive.

Net sales totalled $469 million (US) in the quarter, a drop of 2% on the same period in 2015.

However, demand for products outside the company’s home market helped lift income to $61 million dollars, that was up from $13 million in the same quarter the year before.

Demand for On-Highway Allison transmissions/components lifted 28% in global markets, 43% for the company’s off-highway gear.

While sales to the defense industry lifted 48%.
