Airbag issue sees Range Rover Sport recalled

Recall affects MY16 Range Rover Sport…

A recall of 2016 Range Rover Sport SUVs has been initiated after a possible airbag issue was identified.

The recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and affects vehicles with a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) from SALWG2PF4GA116357 to SALWA2VF6GA123797 and SALWA2KFXGA665022 to SALWA2KF2GA665418.

All of those affected Range Rover Sport vehicles were built between the 20th of September 2016 and the 25th of October 2016.

What are the defects?

The front passenger airbag may not function properly due to a deviation in generant mix ratio.

What are the hazards?

In the event of a crash of sufficient severity, the front passenger airbag may not deploy when required.

Failure to deploy can lead to increased injuries to the passenger seat occupant.

Jaguar Land Rover will be writing to owners of affected vehicles, requesting them to contact their preferred Jaguar Land Rover Retailer, who will replace the front passenger airbag.
