New V8 engine option for DB11
There’s no doubt the V12 version would be pretty sweet, however there’s now a rumbling V8 Aston Martin DB11 on the way.
24 hours after announcing a limited edition run of electric vehicles in 2019, Aston Martin this morning also confirmed the V8 version of the DB11.
The 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged engine has been provided by Mercedes-AMG and produces 395kW of power and just under 700Nm of torque.
The V8 DB11 will rocket to 100km/h in just 4.0 seconds and the V8 benefits from a hefty 114kg weight saving over the V12.
The British marque’s Chief Technical Officer, Max Szwaj, says the V8 reveals more of the DB11’s sporting character.
“The V12-engined variant is an icon - an ultimate, if you like, but the V8 is very much its own car.
“One with a distinct and carefully crafted character that’s truly seductive.
“It has been hugely rewarding to put our stamp on this new engine - both in the way it sounds and performs.”
While the V8 will wear different alloy wheels and there’s some other subtle styling changes to differentiate it.
Customer deliveries are expected in the final quarter of the year.
