2018 Suzuki Swift debuts in Europe

All-new Suzuki Swift shown in Geneva…

This is the all-new Suzuki Swift that will be coming to Australia later in the year.

Unveiled officially at the Geneva Motor Show only hours ago, the new Swift is based on the same platform as the Ignis and the Baleno and Suzuki tell us this means a straight-off weight reduction of at least 30kgs over the current model.

Overall, weight has been cut by up to 120kgs in the new Suzuki Swift.

The new platform also provides a basis for a roomier cabin that delivers extra space for driver, passengers and luggage.

That’s despite the new Swift being 10mm shorter than the outgoing model.

The extra space coming from a 20mm longer wheelbase and a significant 40mm increase in width.

Styling isn’t dramatically different to the phenomenally successful current series Swift, though Suzuki say the new model has a more ‘masculine’ look.

The new Swift is expected to be offered locally with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as part of a new-gen infotainment system.

While we can expect the new 2018 Suzuki Swift to be powered by choice of Suzuki’s 1.2 litre Dualjet and 1.0-litre Boosterjet engines, though at this stage there is no official confirmation from the car company.

Finally, buyers in Europe will also be offered a hybrid version and an optional all-wheel drive – don’t expect either in Australia.
