Tweaks for sporty Subaru wagon
The 2018 Subaru Levorg range will soon land in Subaru dealerships nationwide and the big change is the introduction of a new 1.6 litre turbo boxer engine.
Offered in new lower-spec models, the rest of the Subaru Levorg has also been tweaked for 2018.
Among the 2.0 litre turbo-petrol variants, Subaru has announced the introduction of a new model grade - 2.0 STI Sport.
The new flagship variant sits above the Levorg 2.0 GT-S and is priced from $51,990.
Before we get to details on that one, across the entire Levorg line-up for 2018 Subaru has introduced new-look LED headlights and “higher quality” LED fog lights.
The variants fitted with Bilstein suspension also get a better ride, according to Subaru, with front and rear suspension configurations tweaked to help more adequately absorb bumps and road imperfections.
The 2.0 litre-powered cars also get improved brakes and all variants, except the entry-level Levorg, get a ‘Smart Rearview Mirror’.
They tell us this tech uses a camera mounted inside the rear tailgate glass that displays on the mirror, and is to be particularly effective in poor and fluctuating light conditions.
A new 40/20/40 folding rear seat also features.
Back to that new Subaru Levorg 2.0 STI Sport, the top of the range boasts an exclusive paint colour - WR Blue, as well as:
- Maroon leather trimmed seats
- Unique front bumper and grille
- Red stitching
- STI exhaust tips
- STI instrument cluster logo
- STI side sill plates
- STI steering wheel logo
- STI tuned suspension
- STI 18” alloy wheels
Subaru Australia boss, Colin Christie, says the new addition to the range is sure to be popular.
“By adding the prestige of the STI badge to the range-topping 2.0 STI Sport, we’re catering to customer demand for something even more exclusive at the top of the range - so the freshened MY18 line-up represents a significant opportunity for us.”
