10th gen Accord to go live
The countdown is on to the debut of the all-new 2018 Honda Accord.
We’ve been covering the arrival of the new Accord in recent months, a model that has been a consistently big-seller in the U.S. and North America over the years.
Now comes confirmation that the new-gen model will make that long-awaited official debut tonight.
The 10th generation Honda Accord will be revealed in Detroit at a little after 1am tomorrow morning (EST).
Here’s what we know about the new Accord:
- New-from-the-ground-up design
- There will be no V6 petrol engine on offer
- Engines will 1.5 and 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol (seen below)
- A hybrid version will also be produced
- Transmission choices will be 10-speed auto and 6-speed manual
Honda USA boss Jeff Conrad telling us the new Accord will have been worth the wait.
“With these three advanced new powertrains, the tenth-generation Accord will be the most fun-to-drive, refined and fuel-efficient Accord yet,”
“Just as the new Honda Civic injected new energy into the compact car segment, we expect this all-new 2018 Accord will make people rethink the midsize sedan.”
We mentioned U.S. popularity, in Australia the Honda Accord has traditionally had a strong following, however sales in recent times have ground to a near halt.
VFACTS data shows just 36 Honda Accords were sold locally in June.
That compares to 188 sales in the same month last year.
Year to date, Accord sales have slumped nearly 60% with just 109 total sales and the Honda model claiming just 2.0% of the total mid-size passenger car market.
We will bring you more details when the new 2018 Honda Accord is revealed early tomorrow morning, then we will be your best place to get the latest details around Australian availability as that info comes to hand.
