New-generation Audi convertibles now in dealerships

Six months after the new-gen Audi A5/S5 Coupe variants arrived (details here), Audi dealerships in Australia are now stocked with the cabriolet version.

In confirming the arrival, Audi tell us the second-generation Audi A5 and S5 Cabriolet bring the same emotional design of the coupe, but offer the freedom of top-down motoring.

The cabriolet models feature a lightweight soft-top that opens in just 15 seconds, closes in 18 seconds and can be operated at speeds under 50km/h at the touch of a button.

While all three variants benefit from weight savings over the outgoing first-gen model, the new car is also significantly more rigid too.

The two A5 versions are powered by a 2.0 litre TFSI engine, the entry-level model boasting 140kW/320Nm, the upper-spec gaining quattro all-wheel drive and a 185kW/370Nm output.

2017 Audi S5 Cabriolet 3.0 TFSI quattroStepping up to the S5 Cabriolet brings you a 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 that develops 260kW/500Nm.

“The Audi A5 Cabriolet models offer a winning combination of great design, exciting driving performance and the freedom of open-top motoring,” said Paul Sansom, Managing Director of Audi Australia.

“The addition of the S5 Cabriolet goes one step further, adding potent engine sound and performance, plus a visually arresting S model design.

  • A5 Cabriolet 2.0 TFSI – from $83,400
  • A5 Cabriolet 2.0 TFSI quattro – from $95,000
  • S5 Cabriolet 3.0 TFSI quattro – from $119,111
