SUV receives bigger engine and more features

The new Toyota Kluger SUV will be making its way to our shores later next month, arriving with a new, more powerful V6 engine and more styling and spec upgrades.

Power and torque will be boosted up to 218kW and 350Nm, up from 201kW and 337 Nm for better acceleration.

While the transmission also receives an increase to a direct-shift eight-speed automatic from the former six-speed which Toyota claims will improve fuel consumption and emissions by 10 percent.

All variants gain a new front grille and redesigned LED taillights as well as update alloy wheels and are available in three new body colours - silver, brown and red.

Improvements have been made to the inside as well with an 8” touch screen, sat nav, digital radio, and powered back door with independent glass hatch all in the mid-spec GXL.

The range topping Grande acquires more safety features with front sensors, panoramic cameras for a view around the vehicle and safety tech like rear cross traffic alert, steering control and sway warning.

Toyota Australia’s executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb says the new improvements will be welcomed by Toyota customers.

“The latest updates to Kluger are focused on areas that owners will appreciate - enhanced driveability, quicker overtaking, substantially improved economy and the added convenience of new features”
