Mercedes-Benz premieres S-Class series at the Shanghai motor show…
Boasting new engines, interior and technology the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has made its first appearance at Auto Shanghai this week.
Available in six different body variants, the S-Class is fitted with a more economical biturbo V8 in both the S 560 4MATIC Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach.
The S 350 d4MATIC and S 400 d4MATIC come with a 3.0 litre, six-cylinder diesel engine - the most powerful yet, but with seven percent less fuel consumption.
While a 4.0 litre biturbo V8 replaces the 5.5 litre engine in the Mercedes-AMG 63 4MATIC+ providing 450kW despite the smaller displacement.
The German maker is also planning to release a plug-in hybrid in the future capable of a 50km range.
Improvements have also been made to the Intelligent Drive system with Active Proximity Control and Active Steer Assist to control the distance, steering and speed automatically adjusting to accommodate curves and junctions.
And finally the interior sees upgrades with two new high resolution displays and Energizing comfort control that manages all cabin comfort systems from the ambience lighting to climate control and fragrancing to musical atmosphere.
In charge of Daimler AG R&D Ola Källenius says Mercedes-Benz is still ahead of the game.
“The development of the new S-Class was extremely extensive. With a whole series of new features and functions the S-Class remains the technological pioneer”.
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class will make it to European markets in July.
