2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon unveiled

The wagon body style might not be the flavour of the month among car buyers at the moment, however Mercedes-Benz will push ahead with a wagon (or estate) version of the new E-Class.

Unveiled overnight in Germany, Mercedes-Benz tell us the E-Class Estate will initially be offered in two model variants – E 220 d and E 350 d, though a performance variant, the Mercedes-AMG E 43 4MATIC Estate, is in the pipeline.

Australian availability for the estate is yet to be confirmed by Mercedes-Benz Australia though, we will keep you updated.

The luxury car maker describing its new E-Class variant as being the most intelligent estate that it has ever built due to “innovative engineering and a compelling conception of space”.

Packing a cargo volume of up to 1820 litres and available with a third, folding bench seat for children, Ola Kallenius from Mercedes-Benz sales and marketing says the estate doesn’t take anything away from the appeal of the new E-Class.

“The new Estate is as dynamic as the Mercedes-Benz brand and as spacious as our customers expect.

“Intelligent features such as the cargo position for the rear seat backrest with its 40:20:40 split as standard allow even better use to be made of the generous load-carrying capacity,”

“And what is more, the Estate obviously has all the innovations of the new E-Class – the most intelligent executive saloon in the world.”
